Navy Reserve Retirement Calculator – Basics

The Navy Reserve retirement calculator follows three different systems that are available determined on the year of service that the individual first joined into service.  It is also determined on your pay grade, however the manner in which retirement pay is determined on your pay grade can vary in a couple of ways.  The United States Navy offers great opportunities for service members who make the military a career and complete twenty years of service.  Benefits of pay grade and retirement increase for every year afterwards to lend towards the retirement pay that is available after the age of sixty.  The three Navy reserve retirement calculator systems keep a basic premise and form as to the manner in which payment is administered and received and only vary slightly per each process.  The very basic retirement pay is determined as half of final pay or it is based on a three year system taking an average of the highest paid three year stint of service plus 2.5 percent for every year of uniform service and the individual will receive half of that.  This is for twenty years of service and the pay increases by 2.5 percent for every year after that and career Navy personnel will receive up to one hundred percent of their final pay for forty years of service.

Navy Reserve Retirement Calculator – Systems

The three systems that factor into the Navy Reserve retirement calculator are as follows:

Final Pay System: This means the individual will receive half of their final pay grade after twenty years with an increase of 2.5 percent for every year completed thereafter.  This system is only available to those who joined the Navy before the month of September, on the 8th day, in the year 1980.

High-3 System:  The individual will receive an average that is based on their highest pay per three years of service that will then be multiplied by 2.5 percent for every year of service the individual has completed and they will be given half of that amount.  For thirty years of completed service the same averages will be accumulated and the individual will receive up to seventy five percent of this average.  For forty years of service the individual will receive up to one hundred percent of this average of the highest paid three years.  This system is available to those who joined the Navy and entered into their service contract post Sep. 8th, 1980.

Career Status Bonus – Redux: After fourteen years and six months of service the individual will have the option of choosing the high-3 system or to use the CSB redux system where they will be offered a bonus of up to thirty thousand dollars but will receive a lower percentage of retirement pay.  The same systems will apply, however the individual will receive forty percent after twenty years of service instead of fifty percent.  You can find Navy Reserve retirement calculators online to put in your pay scale, rank, and other information to determine an accurate retirement pay to see what you could be making after your retirement from the military.
